Bas Voermans

Bas Voermans works as a Data Scientist and AI Engineer at Diabeter, where he contributes to the development of the CloudCare platform as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on data-driven innovation. His work centres on building and integrating predictive models and advanced analytics to support care teams in making more informed, faster, and ultimately better decisions for people living with diabetes.

A key part of his research involves applying artificial intelligence to extract actionable insights from electronic health records (EHR). Together with clinicians and researchers, he leverages longitudinal data to develop models that, for example, predict future glycaemic events based on a patient’s historical patterns, clinical characteristics, and treatment history.

Before joining Diabeter, Bas completed a PhD at the Vascular Medicine department of Amsterdam UMC, where he investigated multi-omics signatures that predict long-term outcomes after bariatric surgery. This background in complex, high-dimensional biomedical data now informs his work at Diabeter, helping to translate research into clinical practice.
